致敬克里斯托弗·潘德列茨基专场音乐会

导赏  潘德列茨基的去世对于每一个喜欢音乐的人来说都是一件悲痛的事,对于中国爱乐乐团来说尤为如此。他的名字原本出现在中国爱乐乐团2016-2017音乐季的演出安排里,后因大师身体原因取消,于是这次未能成行的久别重逢就真的成了阴阳两隔。2020年的上半年让人悲伤,与中国爱乐乐团渊源颇深的大提琴家林恩·哈雷尔去世,在乐团工作多年的圆号首席贾辉老师

病逝,再加上3月份去世的老潘,这种悲伤的情绪一直还在,久久得不到排遣。这场音乐会其实在某种意义上说并不是献给潘德列茨基一个人的,它同样是献给哈雷尔,献给贾辉,献给在疫情中告别人世的4725名同胞,以及数以十万计的全人类死难者。这是一场可以尽情释放悲伤的音乐会,因为在此之后,每个人还要负重前行。

潘德列茨基热爱中国,曾以中国唐诗为歌词写下多首艺术歌曲。在这场音乐会上,我们首先要听到的就是潘德列茨基的艺术歌曲,这些作品是他与中国之间深厚情谊的明证。威尔第的《安魂弥撒》篇幅宏大,真挚动人,被认为是最优秀的安魂曲之一。中国爱乐乐团邀请到了宋元明、朱慧玲、夏侯金旭与沈洋四位杰出的华人歌唱家同台,余隆总监的指挥,再加上优秀的中央歌剧院合唱团加入,希望用一套实力最强劲的“全华班”阵容完美演绎这部作品,因为也只有这样高水平的演奏,才配得上将它献给天国的老潘,以及在过去一年里告别我们的每一个值得记住的灵魂。

旅奥女高音歌唱家。以特优双硕士毕业于维也纳国立音乐与表演艺术大学“歌剧与轻歌剧”及“艺术歌曲与清唱剧”,师从弗兰茨·卢卡索夫斯基教授,取得声歌系“优秀艺术家”表演专业最高学位。同时毕业于维也纳普莱纳音乐学院长笛专业。曾获第48届法国图卢兹国际声乐大赛第一名,奥地利第13届“塔利亚维尼”国际声乐比赛“最佳女高音”奖,捷克第44届“德沃夏克”国际声乐比赛第一名及“最佳歌唱家”双奖等六个国际比赛的奖项。在萨尔斯堡国际艺术节、维也纳美泉宫皇家歌剧院、金色大厅玻璃厅、奥地利格拉茨歌剧院、首尔及釜山艺术中心、捷克卡洛维瓦利歌剧院、华盛顿肯尼迪艺术中心、布宜诺斯艾利斯剧院、智利圣地亚哥剧院、北京国家大剧院、香港大会堂等剧院演出,与维也纳爱乐乐团及穆蒂、巴伦博伊姆和捷杰耶夫等著名指挥家合作过。出演了《唐·璜》、《费加罗的婚礼》、《蝙蝠》、《图兰朵》、《艺术家生涯》、《意大利女郎在阿尔及尔》、《骆驼祥子》、《威廉退尔》、《日出》、《这里的黎明静悄悄》、《游吟诗人》、《茶花女》、《唐帕斯夸莱》、《风流寡妇》等剧目。

宋元明被维也纳文化媒体称之为“是纯正的大抒情女高音, 声音统一有磁性,很具潜力的年轻歌唱家,她的演唱相当细致入微,在高声区有非常漂亮的弱音处理。她的声音可塑性极强,柔美而具有力量,能胜任抒情到花腔的歌剧角色。”


次女高音:朱慧玲

朱慧玲是当今不多的几位活跃在欧洲主流歌剧舞台的女中音歌唱家。她除了歌剧演出之外,还担任德国汉堡新生代艺术家基金会艺术总监、德国蒂门多夫歌剧比赛评委。

她在德国、奥地利、瑞士、芬兰等主流歌剧院演唱。

她演唱的剧目包括《卡门》(卡门)、《维特》(夏洛特)、《女人心》(朵拉贝拉)、《弄臣》(玛德莱纳)、《蓝胡子公爵》(皇后)、《莱茵的黄金》(Rheintochter)、《原野》(焦母)等以及德奥轻歌剧。

除了歌剧之外,她还擅长演唱艺术歌曲,曾在巴黎、柏林、斯图加特、汉堡、慕尼黑、米兰、博洛尼亚、苏黎世、伦敦、纽约、华盛顿、东京等地演唱过音乐会。2013年,她首次在中国演出歌剧:国家大剧院版《霍夫曼的故事》(朱丽叶塔),并在在上海交响乐团2012-2013音乐季的《弄臣》中饰演玛德莱纳。近年,她在国内的演出更加频繁,包括国家大剧院的歌剧《安德烈谢尼埃》、《汤豪塞》;上海交响乐团的歌剧《西班牙时光》以及与指挥家张艺、吕绍嘉合作的马勒《大地之歌》;中央歌剧院与指挥家杨洋合作成功首演比才歌剧《卡门》,等等。

本场音乐会是朱慧玲首次与中国爱乐乐团合作。


男高音:夏侯金旭


男低音:沈洋

沈洋,著名低男中音歌唱家,出生于中国天津。先后毕业于上海音乐学院、美国茱莉亚音乐学院和美国大都会歌剧院林德曼青年艺术家训练班。为纽约大都会歌剧院和美国IMG国际艺术家管理公司签约歌唱家;被特聘为美国约翰.霍普金斯大学皮博迪音乐学院、天津音乐学院、沈阳音乐学院、浙江音乐学院客座教授,现任教于上海音乐学院声乐歌剧系。

2007年6月,沈洋作为最年轻的参赛者,在全球最高级别声乐比赛之一的英国BBC卡迪夫世界歌唱家大赛中获得惟一金奖,著名女高音歌唱家琼·萨瑟兰女爵(Dame Joan Sutherland)为他颁发了象征比赛优胜者的威尔士皇家水晶奖杯。

2008年,沈洋在英国伦敦获得Borletti-Buitoni Trust艺术家大奖,该奖项旨在奖励有成就和前途的青年艺术家。并帮助他们进行全球化的事业发展。2010年6月,沈洋在俄罗斯圣彼得堡获得“万宝龙马林斯基剧院白夜音乐节新声音大奖”,并由俄罗斯著名指挥家瓦列里·捷吉耶夫亲自颁奖。2012年沈洋获得第八届上海市“文化新人”称号。沈洋还曾先后获得联合国教科文组织举办的意大利维罗纳《唐乔瓦尼》国际歌剧比赛、德国柏林莱因斯堡歌剧比赛和意大利维罗纳《奥菲欧》歌剧比赛角色第一名。

意大利伟大的男高音歌唱家卡洛·贝尔贡奇(Carlo Bergonzi)称他为其53年演唱生涯以来听过最好的男低音之一,是一个神童。 著名指挥家安东尼奥·帕帕诺(Antonio Pappano)评价为“万里挑一的声音”。同时他还受到美国著名女高音歌唱家芮内·弗莱明(Renée Fleming)的悉心指导和热心帮助。

2009年4月作为在美国大都会歌剧院首演的最年轻的华人歌唱家,参加了纽约大都会歌剧院的首演,演出莫扎特歌剧《唐乔瓦尼》(Don Giovanni)中马赛托一角。2010年2月沈洋再次登上大都会歌剧院舞台与俄罗斯著名女高音安娜·奈特雷布科(Anna Netrebko)等人合作出演普契尼歌剧《波西米亚人》中哲学家科林一角。2011年11月在纽约大都会歌剧院参加与著名女高音歌唱家芮内·弗莱明(Renée Fleming)合作演出亨德尔歌剧《罗德琳达》(Rodelinda)(已由DECCA公司录制发行蓝光和DVD)和新舞台制作版本的《唐乔瓦尼》(Don Giovanni)的演出。2013-2014乐季,他将再次返回大都会歌剧院演出《魔笛》和《灰姑娘》。

2012年夏天,在英国格莱登伯恩歌剧节(Glydenbourne Opera House)的首演,演出罗西尼歌剧《灰姑娘》(La Cenerentola),同期还在了德国巴伐利亚国家歌剧院首演罗西尼歌剧《灰姑娘》饰演阿利多罗。   2013年夏季,他完成了在国家大剧院的歌剧首演,在《费加罗的婚礼》中饰演费加罗一角。2015年,他先后完成了在苏黎世歌剧院和华盛顿国家歌剧院的首演,年底,他将在西雅图歌剧院再次扮演费加罗。

作为音乐会歌唱家,他在音乐会和独唱会舞台有着极为丰富的演出履历和艺术历程。

在音乐会曲目上,他的曲目上的巨大跨度,且演出遍及世界各地。他多次以独唱家的身份和纽约爱乐乐团、费城交响乐团、旧金山交响乐团和马琳斯基剧院乐团等演出包括从巴洛克清唱剧到二十世纪当代音乐作品。同样,他同样是中国的顶尖交响乐团亲密合作伙伴,除了演出经典的音乐作品,在当代音乐会方面他同样世界首演了包括叶小纲教授提献给沈洋的《悲辛之歌》(李叔同词)等其它重要作品。

2009年春,沈洋在美国纽约爱丽丝·塔利(Alice Tully Hall)、英国卡迪夫霍迪诺特(BBC Hoddinott Hal,BBC3台进行了现场广播)、以及香港艺术节和上海首届夏季音乐节举办一系列艺术歌曲独唱会以纪念伟大的德国低男中音歌唱汉斯·霍特(Hans Hotter)诞辰一百周年。2015年,他将有两套独立的独唱会曲目,一个是向斯义桂百年诞辰致敬的中国百年艺术歌曲独唱会。另一套是舒伯特《冬之旅》的弦乐四重奏伴奏版的中国首演。

沈洋作为2011-2012年演出季上海交响乐团驻团艺术家参加了该团系列音乐会。 在第十四、十五、十七届北京国际音乐节期间,举办了德奥艺术歌曲独唱音乐会、黄自作品专场音乐会、马勒艺术歌曲音乐会以及歌剧《原野》的演出;他还在上海大剧院与杨立青教授举办纪念辛亥革命100周年中国近现代作曲家作品独唱音乐会和致敬黄自先生的专场音乐会。2013年秋,他再次做出在艺术上的全新尝试和崭新创意。他和美国传奇爵士钢琴家沃德·马斯顿先生(Ward Marston)在北京中山公园音乐堂和武汉琴台音乐厅演出了全部美国作品的音乐会,音乐风格跨度极大,从黑人灵歌、美国民歌、艺术歌曲和音乐剧作品直到爵士和蓝调音乐。

在上音本科学习期间,他就录制出版发行了世界上首张华人版舒伯特声乐套曲《冬之旅》,被评为当年全国十大发烧唱片,这也是在他20岁时录制的专辑《重低音》后的第二张唱片。2012年,他录制了《伟大的声音演唱约翰·丹佛》,这是一张向约翰·丹佛致敬的唱片,里面还包括了多明戈、托马斯·汉普森、热内·帕佩等人的演唱。2013年芬兰Ondine公司也出版了沈洋和指挥家弗拉迪米尔·阿什肯纳齐录制的肖斯塔科维奇《拉辛之死》。

在个人爱好上,他也是一名活跃的摄影师和作家。摄影方面,他的作品“爱”(Amor)被收入徕卡国际摄影杂志2013年10月的No.1照片。他尝试使用视觉来作为他在艺术上的一种延伸和扩展,在音乐层面之上做出一种对于艺术更丰满的完善。他喜爱黑白摄影,是忠实的徕卡相机用户,并一直致力于寻找音乐和摄影的交集。另外,他的许多文艺批评和文化论述刊登于生活月刊、信报、新民晚报、音乐爱好者、国家大剧院杂志、今日艺术等媒体上,这也是他作为音乐工作者在不同领域的一种表达,而在这一层面,他更愿选择去做一名完整的艺术工作者,而不只是一名在艺术上单一化的歌唱家。更为特殊的是,2014年6月14日,沈洋作为指挥的首演,他和上海爱乐乐团合作德沃夏克第8交响曲以及塞尔配器的斯美塔那第1弦乐四重奏(中国首演)。

2011年9月11日,沈洋在中国爱乐乐团音乐季开幕式音乐会上演唱了三首莫扎特的音乐会咏叹调,给听众留下了十分深刻的印象。


指挥:余隆

余隆是活跃于国际乐坛的最杰出的中国指挥家,被纽约时报誉为“中国古典音乐届最具影响力的人物”,现任北京国际音乐节艺术委员会主席和中国爱乐乐团艺术总监,上海交响乐团和广州交响乐团音乐总监,上海夏季音乐节的联合总监,以及香港管弦乐团首席客席指挥。余隆创办了北京国际音乐节并于1998年至2018年间担任其艺术总监。

在2019/20乐季中,除了在中国的演出,余隆将以客座指挥英国皇家爱乐乐团、纽约爱乐乐团、伯尔尼交响乐团,荷兰广播爱乐乐团,阿德莱德交响乐团、奥克兰爱乐乐团、台湾爱乐乐团以及新加坡交响乐团等。2019年夏天,余隆与上海交响乐团的巡演之旅至美国和欧洲等地,包括了BBC逍遥音乐节、爱丁堡国际艺术节、拉维尼亚艺术节,卢塞恩音乐节等。

2018年6月,余隆与德意志留声机(以下称“DG”)签署独家录音合约,成为DG旗下签约的第一位中国指挥家。作为2018/19乐季德意志留声机120周年庆典的一部分,余隆于18年10月在北京的紫禁城太庙指挥了一场盛大的启动音乐会,同台艺术家包括阿依达•加里芙琳娜和丹尼尔•特里福诺夫,该音乐会随后发行了唱片。

余隆指挥过世界各地一系列知名交响乐团和歌剧院,其中包括纽约爱乐乐团、芝加哥交响乐团、费城交响乐团、洛杉矶爱乐乐团、蒙特利尔交响乐团、华盛顿国家交响乐团、辛辛那提交响乐团、巴黎管弦乐团、班贝格交响乐团、汉堡国家歌剧院、柏林广播交响乐团、莱比锡广播交响乐团、汉堡北德广播交响乐团、慕尼黑爱乐乐团、悉尼交响乐团、墨尔本交响乐团、BBC交响乐团、香港管弦乐团、东京爱乐乐团和新加坡交响乐团等。余隆多年来与以艾莉森•巴尔松、曹秀美、郎朗、马友友、米沙•麦斯基、马克西姆•文格洛夫和王羽佳为代表的众多国际著名艺术家保持频繁合作。

2008年,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团作为首支中国乐团在梵蒂冈城保罗六世礼堂演出,教宗本笃十六世观看演出,成为令全世界瞩目的中西方文化交流盛事。2014年余隆率领中国爱乐乐团在英国BBC逍遥音乐节上演出,该音乐会的电视转播在英国收视率过百万,余隆和中国爱乐也成为了首位中国指挥和中国乐团登上这一舞台。

为了推动中国交响乐的宏观发展,余隆联合了上海交响乐团、上海音乐学院和纽约爱乐创建了中国首个乐队学院。他的前瞻性愿景着眼于向中国正在成长中的古典乐观众介绍重要的西方作品,包括瓦格纳的指环王系列、马勒系列,还有理查德•施特劳斯、本杰明•布里顿及其他作曲家作品。2014年,纽约爱乐乐团任命余隆为乐团国际顾问委员会荣誉成员。这一由12名成员组成的委员会是一个倡导者和大使们与各国个人和机构联结的关系网,以培养纽约爱乐长期在全球范围内的影响力。

余隆与广州交响乐团的初次合作是1993年,并于2003年成为该团音乐总监。任职期间余隆曾率领乐团赴欧洲和埃及巡演,在巴黎香榭丽舍剧院、卢森堡音乐学院、阿姆斯特丹音乐厅和开罗歌剧院演出。

余隆1964年出生于上海的音乐世家,自幼随外祖父、著名作曲家丁善德教授学习音乐。后求学于上海音乐学院和德国柏林高等艺术大学。1992年,余隆担任中央歌剧院首席指挥。同年,他参与创办了中国的新年音乐会系列,并连续三年担任指挥。1993年起,余隆连续五年为香港市政局指挥歌剧演出。

鉴于余隆在推动当今世界古典音乐事业发展和促进国际间文化交流方面所做的突出贡献,法国政府特别授予余隆“法兰西文学艺术骑士勋章”;2002年,德国万宝龙文化基金会向余隆颁发了年度“万宝龙卓越艺术成就奖”; 2005年,意大利总理贝鲁斯科尼向余隆颁发了“共和国骑士勋章”; 2014年,他获得象征着法国最高荣誉典属体系的荣誉军团骑士勋章;2015年,余隆荣获“全国优秀文学艺术工作者”荣誉称号,并获得由美国大西洋理事会颁发的“全球公民”奖,以及由耶鲁大学音乐学院颁发的“桑福德奖章”;2016年,余隆当选美国艺术与科学院外籍荣誉院士,并于同年被授予德意志联邦共和国十字勋章;2018年,余隆被香港演艺学院授予荣誉博士学位。


中央歌剧院合唱团

中央歌剧院是直属于文化部的国家歌剧院。中央歌剧院合唱团是中央歌剧院的主要基本组成部门,同时也是现今全国编制最大,最具整体实力和影响力的职业合唱团,是目前中国歌剧舞台上和各种音乐会中最活跃和最受欢迎的合唱团之一,所到之处,无不受到广大听众和媒体的好评。

自建成之日起,该合唱团就一直活跃在中外歌剧和音乐会舞台上。除最擅长于歌剧演出外,该合唱团还经常演唱贝多芬、普罗科菲耶夫等很多各个历史时期的国外作品和国内作品,并经常举办各类歌剧作品合唱以及艺术作品合唱音乐会。

在歌剧创作方面,几十年里曾参与排练演出的中国歌剧,如《王贵与李香香》《刘胡兰》《草原之歌》《春雷》《望夫云》《阿依古丽》《南海长城》《护花神》《第一百个新娘》《马可·波罗》等,就受到了当时党和国家领导人的亲切接见与鼓励,同时也为中国观众排练介绍了多部外国著名歌剧,如《茶花女》《蝴蝶夫人》《货郎与小姐》《叶甫根尼·奥涅金》《费加罗的婚礼》《卡门》《艺术家的生涯》《小丑》《驯悍记》《弄臣》《图兰朵》《乡村骑士》《塞维利亚理发师》等,近几年中合唱团与时俱进,排练上演了《杜十娘》《霸王别姬》《热瓦普恋歌》《山林之梦》《辛亥风云》《鄞地九歌》《辛亥风云》《我的母亲叫太行》《红军不怕远征难》以及复排了歌剧《白毛女》受到了广大观众的热情称赞。2009年受邀参加了张艺谋执导的在国家体育场(鸟巢版)以及台湾演出的《图兰朵》,2010年以来出访叙利亚、土耳其、意大利、匈牙利、瑞士、韩国、泰国等地,所到之处均受到当地专家以及观众的极高评价,自2011年开始,歌剧院排练上演了难度极高的德国瓦格纳歌剧《唐豪塞》以及瓦格纳的代表作《指环》系列,合唱团在这几部歌剧中的出色演唱和表演为剧院在第一届中国歌剧节中获得多项大奖作出了极大贡献。以上部分剧目曾多次荣获文化部颁发的多个奖项。

中央歌剧院合唱团训练有素,音色纯净,极富表现力,并且通过多年的演出积累了大量歌剧和音乐会曲目。该合唱团中拥有占很大比例的国家一级演员和二级演员;所到之处均受到广泛欢迎;现今的合唱团拥有许多出色的年轻歌唱家,他们不断在各种国际重要声乐比赛中获得奖项,脱颖而出,显露才华,并日益活跃在中外歌剧和音乐会舞台上。

The young Chinese mezzo-soprano was born in Shanghai. After the graduating from the Middle School affiliated to Shanghai Conservatory of Music by Prof. Bian Jingzu, she started her vocal study in Europe. She studied at Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg by Prof. Ingrid Kremling and there she made her bachelor and master degree of Lieder-Oratorio and opera with a first outstanding award. 2011 she received her doctor degree of opera performing and singing at the Hochschule für Musik Stuttgart by Prof. Dunja Vejzovic. During her study, Ms. Zhu has visited numerous of singing masterclasses, such as by Madame Zhou Xiaoyan, Ileana Cotrubas, Wen Kezheng, Mirella Freni and Francisco Araiza etc., and also the masterclasses organized by the Metropolitan Opera and La Scala.

She is a winner of Elisa-Meyer Vocal Competition and Timmendorfer Strand Music Festival Singing Competition in Germany, Nagasaki Music Competition in Japan. 

Her opera repertoire includes "Carmen" (Carmen), "Werther" (Charlotte), "Cosi fan tutte" (Dorabella) "Rigoletto" (Maddalena), "Rheingold" (Rheintochter) ,"Wilderness" (Jiao's Mother), as well as some German and Austrian operettas.

Besides opera, Ms. Zhu is also a outstanding concert singer. She gives her Lieder recital in Germany, Japan, Belgium, Switzerland, UK and the USA.

She made her opera debut in China in 2013, as Giulietta in Les Contes d'Hoffmann produced by NCPA Beijing. She appeared  in 2012-2013 season of Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, singing Maddalena in Rigoletto. In 2014-2015 season, she was soloist in Beethoven’s Symphony No.9 with NCPA Orchestra, and collaborated with Maestro Zhang Yi and  The National Ballet of China Symphony Orchestra in Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde conducted by Zhang Yi. In May, she sang Bersi in Andrea Chenier in a NCPA production. In April 2017, she made triumph debut of Carmen with Yang Yang and China National Opera. 

Since 2008, Ms. Huiling Zhu is the artistic director of the charitable foundation Stiftung Chinesische Nachwuchskünstler e. V. Hamburg (Germany).

This concert features her debut with the China Philharmonic Orchestra.

30-year-old bass-baritone Shenyang is recognized as the 2007 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World as well as 2010 winner of the Montblanc New Voices at Stars of the White Nights Festival and as 2008 winner of the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award.

The 2014-15 season includes house debuts both with Opernhaus Zürich and the Washington National Opera as Alidoro in La Cenerentola.  He returns to the San Francisco Symphony for performances of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis conducted by Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, to the International Bachakademie Stuutgart for Handel’s Messiah, to Beijing’s National Center for the Performing Arts and the Orquesta Nacional de España for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, and to the Beijing Music Festival for a nationally televised gala concert celebrating the music of Chinese composer Huang Zi.

This past season Shenyang returned to the Metropolitan Opera for Julie Taymor’s beloved production of The Magic Flute, conducted by Jane Glover, and for La cenerentola under the baton of the Met’s Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi.  At the Met, Shenyang previously has been heard as Masetto in a new production of Don Giovanni, directed by Michael Grandage and conducted by Sir Andrew Davis, as Garibaldo in Rodelinda directed by Stephen Wadsworth and conducted by Harry Bicket, and as Colline in La bohème in the beloved Franco Zefferili production conducted by Marco Armiliato. 

On the concert stage the artist recently joined Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra, Alan Gilbert and the New York Philharmonic, and Gianluigi Gelmetti and the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and, in a return engagement, he joined Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Symphony for Beethoven’s Mass in C.  He performed Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass with Grant Park Music Festival and the Requiems of both Mozart and Verdi with the Oregon Bach Festival under the batons of Matthew Halls and Helmuth Rilling, respectively.  Shenyang sang Verdi’s Requiem with the Huangzhou Philharmonic and, in his conducting debut, lead the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra in an orchestral program of Dvořák and Smetana.

Highlights of past seasons include a role debut as Figaro in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro in a new production at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, a return to the Beijing Music Festival for Jing Xiang’s opera, Yuan Ye, conducted by Long Yu, and the world premiere of the orchestral song cycle, Song of Farewell, written for him by composer Xiaogang Ye receiving performances in Beijing and at the Berliner Philharmonie with the China National Symphony Orchestra.  North American performances include Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony with Matthew Halls and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra as well as Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with Michael Tilson Thomas leading the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra and Chorus.

Shenyang embodies a 21st century bridge between the cultures of East and West.  His celebration of the human voice was spotlighted as Artist in Residence of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in 2011-12 in numerous programs conducted by Long Yu with repertoire ranging from Bach and Mozart to Rachmaninov and Mahler.  He joined Daniel Harding and the China Philharmonic for selections from Mahler’s Des knaben Wunderhorn at the opening weekend of the Beijing Music Festival and was presented in solo recital at the Festival in a program of Schubert, Loewe, and Mahler. 

Shenyang has appeared with Helmuth Rilling and the International Bachakademie Stuttgart on a European tour of Bach’s Mass in b minor.  In the summer of 2012, Shenyang made his Glyndebourne Festival debut in a revival of the Sir Peter Hall production of La cenerentola and bowed for the first time, also as Alidoro, at the Bayerische Staatsoper.

Shenyang sang Rossini's Stabat Mater with Sir Antonio Pappano and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra and was a featured soloist at the opening concert of the China National Grand Theatre in Beijing.  He performed Haydn's Die Jahreszeiten with John Nelson at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, solo Lieder recitals at BBC Hoddinott Hall in Cardiff, the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, and in New York at Lincoln Center under the auspices of The Juilliard School, a Young Singers Concert with Ivor Bolton at the Salzburg Festival, and Brahms’ Liebeslieder Walzer with James Levine and Daniel Barenboim at Carnegie Hall.  He made his New York Philharmonic debut with Messiah performances under the baton of Helmuth Rilling, sang the title role of Mendelssohn’s Elijah in his Boston Symphony Orchestra debut with Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos (in Boston and at Carnegie Hall), and performed an aria concert conducted by Valery Gergiev at the White Nights Festival.  He was a guest soloist on an international tour with Edo de Waart and the Hong Kong Philharmonic with performances of Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and of excerpts from Mahler’s Des knaben Wunderhorn and he joined Helmuth Rilling and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra for Handel’s Messiah.  The artist appeared with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Ragnar Bohlin for Bach’s Mass in b minor, the Cincinatti Symphony Orchestra and James Conlon for Mendelssohn’s Elias, and at Carnegie Hall in a concert performance of Mozart’s Zaïde with Ensemble ACJW conducted by David Robertson. 

Born in Tianjin, China, Shenyang studied with Professor Ping Gu at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music.  He is an alumnus of the Metropolitan Opera Lindemann Young Artist Development Program and of The Julliard School Opera Center. He has received master classes with James Levine, José Van Dam, John Fisher, Carlo Bergonzi, Renata Scotto, Sir Thomas Allen, Håkan Hagegård, Christa Ludwig, Barbara Bonney, Malcolm Martineau, Stephen Wadsworth, and Renée Fleming.

Shenyang’s interpretation of 3 Mozart’s concert arias were featured on China Philharmonic Orchestra’s Season opening concert on September 11th, 2011 and his performance was long remembered.


China National Opera House Chorus

Central Opera House is the national opera house under the direct administration of Ministry of Culture. Chorus is the main consist department of China Opera House, meanwhile Chorus is a prominent and influential singing company in China. And most of its members are top graduates from conservatories of music all over the country who were well trained in music knowledge and vocal expression. In the past years, the Chorus has a wide repertoire ranging from well-known Chinese and foreign opera and vocal masterpieces.

Thanks to persistent effort of generations of artists in more than half a century, the Opera House has debut, staged and preserved a rich repertoire of word famous operas, including La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Carmen, Giani Schicchi, Turandot, Aida, La Boheme, Rigoletto, Le Nozze di Figaro, Othello, Cavalleria Rusticana, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, I Pagliacci, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Roi d’Yis, etc.The Opera House has also accumulated a repertoire of Chinese operas, including LiuHulan,Song of the Grassland,Ayiguli, The 100th Bride, Marco Polo, Du Shiniang, Farewell My Concubine, etc. In 1988, at the invitation of Savonlinna Opera Festival, China National Opera House visited Finland and staged performances of Madama Butterfly, Carmen,Requiem of Verdi and some Chinese musical pieces, which received tides of praise from the media.  

 

Long YU, conductor

Hailed as the most powerful figure in Chinas classical music scene by The New York Times, the preeminent Chinese conductor Long Yu holds positions as the Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director & Chief Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. He is also the Principal Guest Conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Maestro Yu is the Founder of the Beijing Music Festival and was its Artistic Director from 1998 to 2018. He is the Co-Director of the MISA Summer Festival in Shanghai.

In the 2019/20 season, alongside his work in China, Maestro Yu makes guest appearances across the globe, including with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Bern Symphony Orchestra, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, Auckland Philharmonia, Taiwan Philharmonic and Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Summer 2019 saw Maestro Yu lead the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra on a tour of the USA and Europe, with orchestral debuts at London’s BBC Proms, Edinburgh International Festival, Wolf Trap, and Ravinia Festival in addition to performances at the Lucerne Festival, Grafenegg Festival and Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw.

In June 2018, Maestro Yu signed an exclusive recording contract with Deutsche Grammophon, which began a global release and distribution partnership. As part of the Deutsche Grammophon’s 120th anniversary celebrations in 2018/19, Maestro Yu conducted a spectacular launch concert in October at the site of Beijing’s historic Imperial Ancestral Temple at the Forbidden City, alongside artists such as Aida Garifullina and Daniil Trifonov.

Maestro Yu has conducted a highly-acclaimed list of orchestras and opera houses throughout the world including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Washington DC’s National Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg State Opera, Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra, MDR Leipzig Radio Symphony Orchestra, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic and Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Yu continues to collaborate frequently with many of the world’s most celebrated soloists such as Alison Balsom, Sumi Jo, Lang Lang, Yo-Yo Ma, Mischa Maisky, Maxim Vengerov and Yuja Wang.

In 2008, the China Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Long Yu became the first Chinese orchestra in history to perform at the Vatican in the Paul VI Auditorium. The concert was attended by Pope Benedict XVI and marked a giant step in bringing eastern and western cultures closer together. In 2014, Maestro Yu and the China Philharmonic became the first Chinese conductor and orchestra to play the fabled BBC Proms series with a televised performance at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The concert was viewed by millions of people across the United Kingdom.

Leading the development of orchestral landscape in China, Maestro Yu has created the nation’s first orchestral academy as a partnership between Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Conservatory, and the New York Philharmonic. His dynamic vision is focused on introducing China’s growing audiences to key Western repertoire including Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Mahler Cycle, as well as works of Richard Strauss, Benjamin Britten, and many others. In 2014, the New York Philharmonic named Maestro Yu an honorary member of their International Advisory Board. The 12-member Board serves as a network of advocates and ambassadors connecting with individuals and institutions in their home countries to cultivate the Philharmonic’s long-term reach and influence worldwide.

Maestro Yu made his debut with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in 1993 and in 2003 became Music Director of the orchestra. During his time as Music Director, Maestro Yu has embarked on European and Egyptian tours with the orchestra, performing at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Conservatoire de Luxembourg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Cairo Opera House.

Born in 1964 into a musical family in Shanghai, Maestro Yu received his early musical education from his grandfather Ding Shande, a composer of great renown, and went on to study at the Shanghai Conservatory and the Hochschule der Kunst in Berlin. In 1992, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Central Opera Theatre in Beijing and served as its conductor for three consecutive years. He created opera productions for The Urban Council of Hong Kong for five successive years.

Maestro Yu is a Chevalier dans L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and the recipient of the 2002 Arts Patronage Award of the Montblanc Cultural Foundation. In 2005, the Italian government honored Maestro Yu with the title of L’onorificenza di commendatore. He was awarded France's highest honor of merit by joining la Légion d’Honneur in 2014. The following year, Maestro Yu was awarded the prestigious Global Citizen Award from the Atlantic Council and the Samuel Simons Sanford Award from Yale’s School of Music in America. Most recently, he was elected a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and also awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2018, Long Yu was conferred an Honorary Doctorate from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. Long Yu is currently Vice President of the Chinese Musicians Association.
