马克西姆·文格洛夫被公认为当世最优秀的音乐家之一与最杰出的弦乐演奏家之一。他曾荣获格莱美奖,作为指挥家在全世界享有盛誉,并且是古典乐坛最受欢迎的器乐独奏家之一。

出生于1974年的文格洛夫从5岁起就开始了作为小提琴独奏家的生涯,并在10岁与15岁时分别摘得了维尼亚夫斯基与卡尔·弗莱什小提琴比赛的冠军。他跟随加琳娜·图夏尼诺娃与扎哈·布朗学习小提琴,10岁时就录制了自己的第一张唱片,此后还为如Melodiya、Teldec与EMI等著名唱片公司录制唱片,并赢得了包括格莱美奖与留声机年度艺术家在内的诸多奖项。

文格洛夫不知疲倦地探索全新的创造性表达方式,他受到许多不同风格的音乐启发,其中包括了巴洛克音乐、爵士乐与摇滚乐,并在2007年开始如他在艺术上的导师姆斯季斯拉夫·罗斯特罗波维奇和丹尼尔·巴伦勃伊姆一样转为担任指挥。文格洛夫此后指挥过世界各地的许多主流乐团,其中包括蒙特利尔与多伦多交响乐团,在2010年被任命为格施塔德音乐节乐团的首任首席指挥。他此后跟随俄罗斯-德国指挥学派传人尤里·谢苗诺娃学习指挥,并在2014年6月从莫斯科伊波利托夫·伊万诺夫音乐学院以优秀成绩毕业。此后他开始了为期两年的歌剧指挥学业。

在过去的几个音乐季里,文格洛夫作为指挥家和/或独奏家与许多主流乐团合作,其中包括纽约爱乐乐团、柏林爱乐乐团、伦敦交响乐团、BBC交响乐团、马林斯基剧院管弦乐团、芝加哥交响乐团等。他经常在音乐会上半场担任小提琴独奏,而在下半场作为指挥家演奏管弦乐作品,其中包括里姆斯基-柯萨科夫的《天方夜谭》,他在这部作品里同样负责小提琴独奏声部。

在2014-2015音乐季,文格洛夫在上海交响乐团与巴黎管弦乐团的音乐季开幕式上演出,同时与指挥家余隆、钢琴家郎朗一起为上海的新音乐厅揭幕。他还重返纽约爱乐乐团并收获“英雄般的欢迎”(《纽约时报》),此后还与郑明勋指挥的法国广播爱乐乐团共同巡演,演奏柴可夫斯基的小提琴协奏曲。

在2015-2016音乐季里,文格洛夫完成了在澳洲、加拿大、亚洲、欧洲与北美洲的五次独奏音乐会巡演。

在2016-2017音乐季里,文格洛夫重返澳大利亚,在悉尼交响乐团音乐季开幕式上演出,并指挥了昆士兰交响乐团的音乐季闭幕式,他在这支乐团担任了年度驻团艺术家。此外他还客座指挥了都柏林RTE管弦乐团、慕尼黑爱乐乐团与墨尔本交响乐团。

在2017-2018音乐季里,文格洛夫将重返卡内基音乐厅,与蒙特利尔交响乐团一起演出。此外他将在北京国际音乐节上举行著名作曲家陈其钢专门为他创作的小提琴协奏曲的世界首演。他还将在欧洲、中国与美国举行独奏音乐会巡演,并将在莫斯科的赫利孔剧院第一次指挥《尤金·奥涅金》。

文格洛夫热爱教育与鼓励青年才俊。他在全世界的许多地方担任教职,并担任瑞士梅纽因音乐学院的大使与访问教授,伦敦皇家音乐学院波隆斯基小提琴访问教授,这也是英国最杰出的音乐学院。此外,文格洛夫坚信音乐比赛是年轻艺术家开启国际生涯的最佳平台,他在许多世界知名比赛中担任评委,其中包括多纳泰拉·弗利克指挥比赛,梅纽因小提琴比赛等。他在2013年担任蒙特利尔国际小提琴比赛决赛的指挥。他在2011年维尼亚夫斯基小提琴比赛中成功担任主席一职,期间在九座国际大都市亲自面试了200多名选手,他因此被史无前例地邀请在2016年再次担任该项赛事主席。

1997年,文格洛夫成为了首位被联合国儿基会任命为亲善大使的古典音乐家,这使得他可以继续通过音乐为全世界的孩子带去启迪。他作为联合国儿基会亲善大使为乌干达、泰国、巴尔干地区与土耳其的贫困儿童与社区演奏音乐,同时为许多联合国儿基会支持的项目募款。他还是南非MIAGI计划的捐助者,该项计划将来自不同种族的孩子通过音乐的纽带结合在一起。

文格洛夫的音乐事业被拍摄成许多部纪录片,其中包括《用心演奏》,由第四频道摄制,并于1999年在戛纳电视节上播映。另一部纪录片《活出梦想》在全世界发行,并在2008年赢得了留声机最佳纪录片奖。

文格洛夫曾从许多机构获颁殊荣,其中包括皇家音乐学院颁发的奖章,以及罗马尼亚与德国萨尔州颁发的荣誉勋章。2012年他获颁剑桥圣三一学院荣誉访问学者。

文格洛夫曾在2003年获得格莱美最佳器乐独奏奖(与乐队伴奏),在1994年与1995年两次获得留声机奖,在2004年获得古典英伦奖,1995年、1996年、1998年、2003年与2004年五次爱迪生古典音乐奖,1997年与2003年两次古典回声奖,以及2007年国际经济论坛水晶奖——该奖项用以表彰艺术家借助他们的影响力推动世界进步。

文格洛夫演奏的是一把制作于1727年的ex-Kreuzer斯特拉底瓦里小提琴。

 

钢琴:王雅伦

王雅伦是华裔00后新生代青少年钢琴演奏家,她的演出被《旧金山纪事报》描述为“拥有无法忽视的未来”。六岁那年,她参加第三届北京国际钢琴音乐节,登上国家大剧院音乐厅的舞台,与张国勇指挥的深圳交响乐团合作演奏了海顿的《D大调钢琴协奏曲》。从那时的闪亮亮相之后,雅伦不断与更多的乐团和指挥合作,其中包括: 中国爱乐,国家大剧院管弦乐团,深圳交响乐团,上海交响乐团,温哥华交响乐团,墨西哥青年交响乐团以及广州交响乐团。她先后合作过的指挥家包括:祖宾·梅塔,古斯塔沃·韦伯,余隆,张国勇,吕嘉,杨洋,朱其元等。

她2010年在中国厦门鼓浪屿举办的《全国第二届少儿钢琴展演比赛》中获得了幼儿组金奖;2014年在日本举办的第十五届亚洲肖邦国际钢琴比赛上荣获B组金奖。至今她已演出的国家和地区包括:俄罗斯,芬兰,意大利,瑞士,以色列,美国,新加坡,中国,日本,以及台湾和香港等。她九岁在荷兰唱片发行公司Channel Classics录制其个人首张CD专辑,唱片上市不久便获得国际媒体的好评及关注。此专辑曲目涵盖了莫扎特、肖邦、李斯特、普朗克、肖斯塔科维奇、谭盾和但昭义等作曲家的作品。

在2016-2017 乐季,她受中国爱乐乐团邀请,参与了北美巡回演出,包括温哥华、旧金山和洛杉矶,演奏了贝多芬第一协奏曲;她与上海交响乐团合作,在上海和台北演奏了同样的作品;作为年龄最小的受邀钢琴家参加了由余隆执棒的广州交响乐团在意大利的第54届布雷西亚与贝加莫国际钢琴艺术节,演奏了门德尔松的《G小调第一钢琴协奏曲》。2017年5月,应以色列爱乐的邀请、祖宾·梅塔的指挥下,在特拉维夫、耶路撒冷和海法巡回演出四场门德尔松的《G小调第一钢琴协奏曲》;随后与余隆和香港管弦乐团合作在香港和深圳演出;紧接着与张国勇指挥以及青岛交响乐团合作演出了格里格的《a小调钢琴协奏曲》。

在2017-2018乐季,王雅伦将再次受邀参与意大利布雷西亚与贝加莫国际钢琴艺术节演出;她也再次受祖宾·梅塔邀请与以色列爱乐合作,将在中国苏州和哈尔滨举办巡演;之后她将首次与纽约爱乐乐团以及伦敦爱乐乐团合作,演奏贝多芬c小调合唱幻想曲;紧接着她将再次受邀,与广州交响乐团以及昆明聂耳交响乐团合作演出。

王雅伦2004年出生于美国旧金山,2008年开始学习钢琴,师从Sumi Nagasama教授。2010年她和家人回到中国后有幸认识了著名钢琴教育家但昭义教授,从此师从但教授门下直至2016年小学毕业离开中国;现在她生活于美国波士顿,师从柯蒂斯音乐学院刘孟捷教授。


云南富民小水井农民合唱团

富民县小水井苗族村位于永定街道大营东北十二公里,该村海拔2350米,全村人口158户458人,均系苗族。耕地以山地为主,属贫困村。小水井村于1937年传入基督教,并设立了教堂,基督教主要的传教形式唱诗班也随之产生,并一直传承延续至今。目前,全村80%左右的苗族村民信仰基督教。

2007年小水井村被列为昆明市新农村建设试点村,加大了农业生产的投入,着力从根本上改善村民的生活,水平得到了极大的提高。2002年,在小水井教会唱诗班的基础上,富民县策划并组织成立了“富民县小水井苗族农民合唱团”。小水井苗族农民合唱团是一支四声部合唱的团队,从专业的角度来讲,发声方法与西方巴洛克传统美声唱法有关,是祖祖辈辈一代一代口口相传至今,所有队员都没有参加过专业训练。2003年10月,参加《中国首届西部合唱节》获得青年组第一名;

2005年9月参加昆明《聂耳杯—首届国际合唱节》中获一等奖、同年10月应邀赴澳门演出;

2006年1月与俄罗斯国家爱乐乐团在北京大学同台演出;

2008年代表云南参加了中央电视台第十三届青年电视歌手大奖赛,小水井合唱团做为唯一的来自一个边远山寨的苗族农民业余队伍,获奖并在北京国家大剧院参加了《首届国际民歌博览音乐周》的演出,同时应中央音乐学院的邀请进行了专场演出;

2009年11月,参加在广州举行的全国首届农民合唱大会获第一名;

2011年6月16日晚参加在上海大剧院举办的第二届中国聂耳音乐(合唱)周开幕式大型文艺晚会《人民的声音》;

2011年9月16日,应邀参加由联合国教科文组织、昆明市人民政府、中国民俗摄影协会联合举办的第七届国际民俗摄影“人类贡献奖”年赛颁奖晚会;

2012年1月3日至7日,参加北京电视台2012春节联欢晚;

2013年5月8日,小水井苗族农民合唱团应邀参加“上海之春国际音乐节”,轰动了整个上海;

2014年两次参加了上海东方卫视“妈妈咪呀”栏目节目在东方卫视播出;

2016年举行了“富民小水井苗族农民合唱团·建水公益音乐会”,这也是小水井“天籁之音·大山里的巴洛克世界经典音乐会巡回演出”公益系列活动之一。

指挥:余隆

余隆是活跃于国际乐坛的最杰出的中国指挥家。现任中国爱乐乐团艺术总监和首席指挥、广州交响乐团音乐总监、上海交响乐团音乐总监和北京国际音乐节艺术总监、上海夏季音乐节艺术总监、香港管弦乐团首席客座指挥。

余隆是与世界顶尖级交响乐团合作最多的华人指挥家。他与世界各地众多知名交响乐团和歌剧院有着广泛合作,他指挥过的乐团有纽约爱乐乐团、芝加哥交响乐团、费城交响乐团、洛杉矶爱乐乐团、蒙特利尔交响乐团、华盛顿国家交响乐团、辛辛那提交响乐团、巴黎管弦乐团、班贝格交响乐团、汉堡国家歌剧院、柏林广播交响乐团、莱比锡广播交响乐团、慕尼黑爱乐乐团、NDR北德广播交响乐团、悉尼交响乐团、BBC交响乐团、多伦多交响乐团、香港管弦乐团、东京爱乐乐团和新加坡交响乐团等。

余隆1964年出生于上海的音乐世家,自幼随外祖父、著名作曲家丁善德教授学习音乐。后求学于上海音乐学院和德国柏林高等艺术大学。先后受教于中国音乐教育家黄晓同教授和德国歌剧指挥家鲁宾斯坦教授等名师。出色的音乐天赋、优越的教育背景及广博的社会资源为余隆的艺术生涯奠定了坚实基础,使得他能够迅速成长为一位成就卓著的指挥家和音乐活动家。

余隆的艺术生涯涵盖指挥和艺术管理领域。1992年自德国学成回国后,余隆担任中央歌剧院常任指挥。同年,他创办了首届北京新年音乐会,并连续三年担任指挥,开启国内演出新年音乐会之先河。1993年起,余隆连续五年为香港市政局指挥歌剧演出。1998年,余隆发起并创办了北京国际音乐节,担任艺术总监。在他的出色领导下,北京国际音乐节不仅成为中国和亚洲规模最大的音乐节,也跻身于全球知名度最高的音乐节之列。在过去若干年间,金秋时节的北京国际音乐节上呈现了由众多著名乐团如柏林爱乐乐团和纽约爱乐乐团演出的精彩音乐会以及柏林德意志歌剧院、威尼斯凤凰歌剧院和圣彼得堡马林斯基剧院等带来的歌剧盛典,如《尼伯龙根的指环》、《玫瑰骑士》、《唐豪瑟》、《茶花女》、《纳布科》、《璐璐》和《姆钦斯克县的麦克白夫人》。

2000年,余隆参与创建了中国爱乐乐团,并担任艺术总监和首席指挥。余隆期望通过与众多世界知名音乐家的合作,使中国爱乐乐团发展成一个全能型职业化乐团,不仅向全世界介绍优秀的中国交响乐作品,也使得中国音乐家对西方音乐各时期及各种风格作品的演奏达到全新水准,并且在不同音乐形式上均有建树。余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团举行了许多大型作品的中国首演。2002年10月,作为第五届北京国际音乐节开幕式音乐会,余隆指挥包括中国爱乐乐团在内的近千名中外音乐家演出了马勒的第八《千人》交响曲,完成了这部宏伟巨作的历史性中国首演。从那时起,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团演奏了数百部古典音乐的文献作品,并被誉为中国诠释德奥作品的最权威的指挥家。

2001年9月,余隆率中国爱乐乐团在台湾地区举行了成功的巡回演出。2002年6月,余隆率中国爱乐乐团参加了波多黎各的卡萨尔斯音乐节,随后在圣何塞、洛杉矶等地进行了美国西海岸巡演。同年9月,余隆再次率中国爱乐乐团赴海外巡演,在日本东京、神户、大阪和韩国汉城演出,所到之处均深受欢迎,尤其是在东京三得利音乐厅的音乐会,赢得了包括日本皇室成员在内的两千余名日本听众的热烈喝采,取得了轰动性成功。2003年,余隆的一系列重要指挥活动包括与东京爱乐乐团合作并率该团在中国巡演。同年5月起,他在作为北京国际音乐节艺术总监与中国爱乐乐团艺术总监和首席指挥的同时兼任广州交响乐团音乐总监。9月,余隆率领中国爱乐乐团赴欧洲巡演,在著名的巴黎国家歌剧院、华沙国家大剧院和维也纳音乐之友协会金色大厅演出,获得巨大成功。11月至12月间,余隆与大提琴家米沙·麦斯基和广州交响乐团一道进行大规模巡演,在巴黎香榭丽舍剧院、卢森堡音乐学院音乐厅、荷兰阿姆斯特丹音乐厅、开罗歌剧院和亚历山大音乐厅演出。2005年2月至4月,余隆率领中国爱乐乐团进行了规模空前的环球世界巡演,历时四十多天,跨越北美和欧洲,不仅在中国乐团出访史上前所未有,在全亚洲交响乐团中亦属罕见。2008年5月7日,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团和上海歌剧院合唱团在梵蒂冈城保罗六世礼堂为教宗本笃十六世及八千余名听众演出了莫扎特的《安魂曲》,成为令全世界瞩目的重要文化盛事。英国《卫报》称此次意义非凡的演出为“中梵借音乐外交‘破冰’”。2009年11月,余隆率领上海交响乐团在纽约、洛杉矶、多伦多、圣地亚哥等北美12座城市进行了极为成功的巡演,《纽约时报》在2009年11月9日刊载专文介绍余隆的艺术成就,将余隆誉为“中国的赫伯特·冯·卡拉扬”。2010年3月,余隆率上海交响乐团赴波兰参加第十四届贝多芬音乐节,并在华沙和罗兹两座城市演出,受到各界高度评价。2011年,余隆再次率中国爱乐乐团巡访美国西海岸十数个城市。2012年中国春节期间,余隆指挥纽约爱乐乐团在纽约林肯中心的菲舍尔音乐厅举行了首次中国新年音乐会,使得他的指挥艺术再一次在美国享受盛誉。

2014年7月,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团在英国逍遥音乐节演出,演出受到了英国各界的极大好评,获得了轰动性的效应。

2016年11-12月,余隆指挥了中国爱乐乐团美洲巡演中全部9场音乐会,其中包括了广受媒体赞誉的旧金山音乐会与洛杉矶音乐会,乐团在纽约大卫·盖芬音乐厅全场售罄的首演,以及在古巴的两场历史性音乐会。

2017年8月,余隆与上海交响乐团赴欧洲巡演,先后亮相瑞士琉森音乐节,奥地利蒂罗尔节日剧院夏日音乐节、

余隆作为指挥家以及交响乐团和音乐节的领导者多年来始终大力倡导当代音乐,他领导下的北京国际音乐节、中国爱乐乐团和广州交响乐团等机构和团体向当今最重要的作曲家委约创作,包括克里斯托夫·潘德列茨基、约翰·威廉姆斯、菲利普·格拉斯、霍华德·肖、郭文景、谭盾、叶小纲、赵季平、赵麟和陈银淑等,并由马友友、朗朗、朱利安·劳埃德-韦伯等当今最优秀的演奏家与中国爱乐乐团担任首演。在2011年,由余隆担任艺术总监的北京国际音乐节与波士顿歌剧院向作曲家周龙共同委约的歌剧《白蛇传》获得了普利策奖。

余隆指挥的录音包括德意志唱片公司录制发行、中国爱乐乐团演奏的勃拉姆斯G小调钢琴四重奏(阿诺德·勋伯格配器)和瓦格纳的《唐豪瑟》序曲、中国管弦乐作品集以及由郎朗担任钢琴独奏的钢琴协奏曲《黄河》。拿索斯公司发行有余隆指挥科恩格尔德的小提琴协奏曲和丁善德的《长征交响曲》。2012年,余隆主持的中国爱乐乐团100张CD和10张LP唱片的发行更开创了中国乐团录制鸿篇巨制的先河。2014年夏,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团拍摄了交响乐艺术电影小提琴协奏曲《梁山伯与祝英台》,成为我国第一部该类型的艺术电影。2015年夏,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团拍摄了交响乐艺术电影《黄河》。

作为一位优秀的音乐家和知名人士,余隆亦把培养年轻音乐家和社会教育工作作为己任,每年他都会发掘和培养一批年轻音乐家与他领导的乐团合作,使年轻音乐家能够在最受瞩目的音乐平台上崭露头角。2007年余隆创办了广东国际音乐夏令营,2012年上海交响乐团与纽约爱乐乐团联合创办的乐队学院令众多的年轻音乐家心向往之。

由于把全能艺术家作为追求目标,余隆除却在中国爱乐乐团和北京国际音乐节出品的许多歌剧中担任指挥之外还亲自担任导演,尤其是2004年他导演并执棒中国爱乐乐团演出的歌剧《卡门》,以及2010年雷哈尔的轻歌剧《风流寡妇》均引起了空前的轰动。

鉴于余隆在推动当今世界古典音乐事业发展和促进国际间文化交流方面所做的突出贡献,2002年,德国万宝龙文化基金会向余隆颁发了年度“万宝龙卓越艺术成就奖”;2003年,法国政府特别授予余隆“法兰西文学艺术骑士勋章”;2005年,意大利政府向余隆颁发了“共和国骑士勋章”。2010年11月,中央音乐学院在其庆祝建院70周年大会上授予他中央音乐学院荣誉院士称号,以表彰他近十年来对中国音乐的发展和对外文化交流作出的杰出贡献。这是国内艺术大学首次颁发“荣誉院士”称号,余隆成为我国艺术家中获此殊荣的第一人。当年12月15日又被授予“2010年年度中国文化人物”大奖。

2013年,余隆获颁国家级学术机构主办的最高艺术大奖“中华艺文奖”。

2014年,法国政府授予余隆“法国荣誉军团骑士勋章”。

2015年,余隆获颁“全国中青年德艺双馨文艺工作者”称号,同年荣获由美国大西洋理事会颁发的“全球公民”奖,以及由耶鲁大学音乐学院颁发的“桑福德奖章”。

2016年4月,余隆当选美国艺术与科学学院外籍荣誉院士。

2016年6月,余隆获得由德国联邦政府颁发的德国联邦十字勋章。

余隆现任第十一、十二届全国政协委员,并担任中国音乐家协会副主席职务。

Universally hailed as one of the world’s finest musicians, and often referred to as the greatest living string player in the world today, Grammy award winner Maxim Vengerov also enjoys international acclaim as a conductor and is one of the most in-demand soloists in all of classical music.

Born in 1974, he began his career as a solo violinist at the age of 5, won the Wieniawski and Carl Flesch international competitions at ages 10 and 15 respectively, studied with Galina Tourchaninova and Zakhar Bron, made his first recording at the age of 10, and went on to record extensively for high-profile labels including Melodia, Teldec and EMI, earning among others, Grammy and Gramophone artist of the year awards.

Tireless in his search for new means of creative expression, Maxim Vengerov has let himself be inspired by many different styles of music, including baroque, jazz and rock and in 2007 followed in the footsteps of his mentors, the late Mstislav Rostropovich and Daniel Barenboim and turned his attention to conducting. Mr Vengerov has since conducted major orchestras around the world including the Montreal and Toronto Symphony Orchestras, and in 2010 was appointed the first chief conductor of the Gstaad Festival Orchestra. He went on to further his studies with Yuri Simonov, an exponent of the Russian-German conducting school, and graduated as a conductor with a diploma of excellence from the Moscow Institute of Ippolitov-Ivanov in June 2014. He has since enrolled in a further 2-year program of opera conducting.

In the last few seasons Maxim Vengerov has performed as soloist and/or conductor with many major orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, often performing a major violin concerto in the first half and conducting a symphonic work in the second, including Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade, in which he also performs the violin solos.

In 2014/15 Mr Vengerov opened the concert seasons of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris and Shanghai’s newest Symphony Hall alongside Maestro Long Yu and pianist Lang Lang. He also returned to the New York Philharmonic to a “hero’s welcome” (New York Times), as well as toured and recorded the Tchaikovsky concerto with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Myung-Whun Chung.

The 2015/16 season highlights saw Mr Vengerov complete five recital tours in Australia, Canada, Asia, Europe and South America.

In the 2016/17 season Mr Vengerov returned to Australia to open the season of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and conducted the season finale of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, with whom he is Artist in Residence this year. Further guest conducting engagements included the RTE Orchestra Dublin, Munich Philharmonic and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras.

The coming 17/18 season will see Mr Vengerov return to Carnegie Hall with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and premiere a new concerto at the Beijing Music Festival written for him by the renowned composer Qigang Chen. He will also tour Europe, China and the US in recital and will conduct his first performances of Eugene Onegin at the Helicon Threatre Moscow.

As one of Mr Vengerov’s greatest passions is the teaching and encouraging of young talent, he has held various teaching positions around the world and is currently Ambassador and visiting Professor of the Menuhin Music Academy in Switzerland (IMMA) and as of September 2016, the Polonsky Visiting Professor of Violin at the Royal College of Music in London – the UK’s leading conservatoire. Furthermore, in keeping with his belief that competitions are a platform to launch young artists’ international careers, Mr Vengerov has served on numerous juries including the Donatella Flick conducting competition, the Menuhin Violin Competition and in May 2013 conducted the finals during the Montreal International Violin Competition. Owing to his success as chairman of the prestigious Wieniawski Violin Competition in 2011, where he auditioned live over 200 musicians in nine world capitals, Mr Vengerov has been unprecedentedly re-elected to return as chairman in 2016.

In 1997 Mr Vengerov became the first classical musician to be appointed International Goodwill Ambassador by UNICEF, which has enabled him to continue to inspire children worldwide through music. In this role, he has performed for disadvantaged children and communities in Uganda, Thailand, the Balkans and Turkey, whilst helping to raise funds for many UNICEF-assisted programs. He is also a patron of the MIAGI project in South Africa, which connects children of different ethnic backgrounds through music.

Mr Vengerov has been profiled in a series of documentaries, including Playing by Heart, which was recorded by Channel Four Television and screened at the Cannes Television Festival in 1999, and Living the Dream, which was released worldwide and received the Gramophone Award for Best Documentary in 2008.

Mr Vengerov has received prestigious fellowships and honours from a number of institutions, including the Royal Academy of Music and orders of merit from both Romania and Germany’s Saarland, and in 2012 was awarded an Honorary Visiting Fellowship at Trinity College Oxford.

Mr Vengerov has also received numerous awards including Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Soloist Performance (with Orchestra) (2003), two Gramophone awards (1994, 1995), a Classical Brit Award (2004), five Edison Classical Music Awards (1995, 1996, 1998, 2003, 2004), two ECHO awards (1997, 2003) and a World Economic Forum Crystal award (2007) – honouring artists who have used their art to improve the state of the world.

Serena Wang, piano

Serena Wang (Wang Yalun) has been described by the San Francisco Chronicle as “undeniably promising” and already possesses extensive concertixzng experience at her tender age. At the age of six, Serena made her concerto debut performing Haydn’s the 11th Piano Concerto in D major with conductor Zhang Guoyong leading the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra at the Third Beijing International Piano Festival. Since then, she has appeared with several orchestras, including China Philharmonic, National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) Orchestra (Beijing), Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta Juvenil Universitaria Eduardo Mata, Israel Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra. She has worked with eminent conductors including  Zubin Mehta, Gustavo Rivero Weber, Yu Long, Zhang Guoyong, Lu Jia,Yang Yang and Zhu Qi Yuan.

First Prize winner at the China 2nd National Youth Piano Competition in Xiamen (2010) and the 15th Asia Chopin Piano Competition in Japan (2014), she has performed in Russia, Finland, Italy, Switzerland, Israel, United States, Singapore, China, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong. She made her debut recording on Channel Classics at the age of 9, featuring solo works by Mozart, Chopin, Liszt, Poulenc, Shostakovich, Tan Dun and Zhaoyi Dan. The recording received wide attention and met critical acclaims.

During 2016-17 season, she was the invited soloist on China Philharmonic’s North American Tour, playing Beethoven’s Concerto No. 1 in Vancouver, San Francisco and Los Angeles. She also performed the same concerto with Shanghai Symphony Orchestra in Shanghai and Taipei. At the 54th International Piano Festival of Bergamo and Brescia in Italy, she appeared with Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra in Mendelssohn’s Concerto No. 1.  In May 2017, she was invited to perform in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa with Maestro Zubin Mehta and Israel Philharmonic, followed by an invitation to play with Yu Long and Hong Kong Philharmonic in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. She also performed Grieg Concerto with Zhang Guoyong and Qingdao Symphony.

For 2017-2018 season, Serena will make her second appearance at the International Piano Festival of Bergamo and Brescia in 2018. She is invited by Zubin Mehta to perform two concerts on Israel Philharmonic Orchestra’s China tour in Suzhou and Harbin (China). Serena also makes her debut this season with New York Philharmonic and London Philharmonia, playing Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, along with return engagements with Guangzhou Symphony and Kunming Symphony.

Born in San Francisco in 2004, Serena began her piano study with Ms. Sumi Nagasama in 2008, she returned to China with her family and continued her study with Prof. Dan Zhaoyi in Chengdu in 2010. Currently Serena lives in Boston and studied with Prof. Meng-Chieh Liu.


Xiaoshuijing Farmers’ Choir from Fumin County, Yunnan Province

Miao ethnic group in Xiaoshuijing, Fumin county is located 12 kilometers in the north-east of Yongding Street Camp, 2350 meters above the sea level. The population of 458 out of 158 families in the village is Miao minority. It is a poverty village with arable lands mainly distributes over the mountain area. Since 1937, Christianity was introduced into this village and Churches were built, along with the most important medium of missionization: Choir singing, which has lasted until today. Nowadays, 80 percent of the population in this village has faith in Christianity.

In 2007, Xiaoshuijing Village was ranked as the Pilot Village of New Rural Construction in Kunming with policies of increasing the agriculture production input which has effectively improved the living status of residents as a fundamental change. In 2002, after planning and organization, Fumin County has established the “Farmer’s Chorus of Miao Ethnic Groups in Xiaoshuijing, Fumin County” on the basis of church choir singing in Xiaoshuijing Village. It is a choir consists of four parts. From the professional vocal music point of view, the singing technique of this choir relates to traditional Belle Canto in western Baroque Music, and was passed on by word-of-mouth from generation to generation. None of its members has ever received any professional training.

“Farmer’s Chorus of Miao Ethnic Groups in Xiaoshuijing, Fumin County” has won the following awards and honors:

First prize of Youth Group in the first “China Western Choral Festival” in October, 2003;

First prize in “The First Yunnan Nie-er Music Week & The First Kunming Nie-re Cup Chorus Festival” in September, 2005, and has put on performance in Macau in the same year;

Performed together with Russian Philharmonic Orchestra in Beijing University in January, 2006;

As the only amateur Miao ethnic group choir from remote areas, on behalf of Yunnan Province, participated The 13th CCTV Young Singers’ TV Match, was honored with prize and put on performance in World Folk Song Festival in National Centre for the Performing Arts, 2008, while was invited by Central Conservatory of Music for a special performance;

First prize of the First National Farmer’s Chorus Festival in Guangzhou, November, 2009;

Performed in the Opening Ceremony Voice of the People of the second Nie-er Music&Chorus Week in Shanghai Grand Theatre on 16th, June, 2011;

Was invited to perform in the Awarding Ceremony of “The Humanity Photo Awards 2011” held by United Nations Educational Scientific and Culture Organization, Kunming Municipal People's Government and Chinese Folk Photography Association;

Performed in the Beijing Television Spring Festival Gala from 3rd to 7th January, 2012;

Was invited to perform in Shanghai Spring International Music Festival on 8th, May, 2013, and has caused a sensation in Shanghai;

Performed twice in the TV Show Mama Miya in Shanghai Dragon TV in 2014;

Has given Charity Concert in Jianshui, as well as one of their series activities for public benefit of their tour in 2016.

Long Yu, Conductor

As one of the most distinguished Chinese conductors with an established international reputation, Maestro Long Yu is currently Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the Beijing Music Festival and Music in the Summer Air, MISA, as well as Principle Guest Conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Long Yu is one of the conductors who conducts the world top-class orchestras most frequently, he has appeared with a prestigious list of leading orchestras and a lot of opera companies around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Montreal Symphony OrchestraWashington National Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg State Opera, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester Leipzig, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic and Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

Long Yu was born in 1964 into a family of musicians in Shanghai. Musical education in his early childhood came from his grandfather Ding Shande, a composer of great renown, and he later studied at the Shanghai Conservatory with Professor Xiaotong Huang and then studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with Prof. Robinstein. Outstanding music talents, excellent educational background and extensive social resources make Long Yu a preeminent conductor. 

Long Yu's career has included both artistic and administrative appointments. In 1992, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Central Opera Theatre in Beijing, and in the same year, he was involved in the planning of the first Beijing New Year's Concert and served as its conductor for three consecutive years. He also produced operas for The Urban Council of Hong Kong for five successive years. In 1998, he led the creation of the Beijing Music Festival and was its Founding Artistic Director.
