弗兰克·彼得·齐默尔曼被广泛认为是他这一代最重要的小提琴家之一。他才华横溢,有着无私的音乐精神和敏锐的理解力,收获赞誉无数。在过去的三十多年中,已与世界主要乐团以及世界最知名的指挥家合作,参与的音乐会遍布欧洲、美国、日本、南美和澳大利亚等重要的音乐厅和国际音乐节。

在2017/18音乐季,弗兰克·彼得·齐默尔曼将成为北德意志广播易北爱乐乐团的驻团艺术家。作为齐默尔曼三重奏中的一员,他将随乐团赴巴黎、德累斯顿、柏林和马德里演出,并参加在萨尔茨堡、爱丁堡和石勒苏益格 - 荷尔斯泰因举办的夏季音乐节。阿姆斯特丹皇家音乐厅管弦乐团将邀请齐默尔曼与丹尼尔·加蒂,在阿姆斯特丹的音乐会后,与他们共同参加首尔和日本的巡演。他也将与巴伐利亚广播交响乐团和指挥杨松斯在欧洲和纽约卡耐基音乐厅举行巡演。其他音乐会和巡演计划包括:与苏黎世市政厅乐团和伯纳德·海廷克的演出、与柏林巴洛克独奏家乐团的欧洲巡演、在丹尼尔·哈丁的指挥下与巴黎管弦乐团和瑞典广播交响乐团合作。上海交响乐团、广州交响乐团和中国爱乐乐团(北京国际音乐节开幕音乐会)即将迎来齐默尔曼为期一周的中国巡演,音乐会都将由余隆担任指挥。

弗兰克·彼得·齐默尔曼在2016/17音乐季中的亮点包括与波士顿交响乐团和雅库布·赫鲁沙的演出,与巴伐利亚广播交响乐团和雅尼克·涅杰-瑟贡合作,基里·彼得连科指挥的巴伐利亚国立管弦乐团,爱乐管弦乐团与尤拉伊·瓦楚哈和拉法耶·帕耶雷,柏林爱乐乐团、纽约爱乐乐团与艾伦·吉尔伯特,俄罗斯-德国音乐学院与瓦列里·捷杰耶夫,法国国家管弦乐团与尤拉伊·瓦楚哈,柏林巴洛克独奏家乐团,班贝格交响乐团和曼弗雷德·霍内克以及尤拉伊·瓦楚哈指挥的维也纳交响乐团。

弗兰克·彼得·齐默尔曼与中提琴家演奏家安托万·塔米斯蒂以及大提琴演奏家克里斯蒂安·波泰拉组成了齐默尔曼三重奏,并在欧洲各大音乐场所和音乐节演出。BIS唱片公司发行了三张他们的唱片并获得大奖,分别收录了贝多芬作品第3号、第8号、第9号、莫扎特KV563套曲、和舒伯特弦乐三重奏作品D 471号。

齐默尔曼先生参与了四部作品的世界首演音乐会,其中最著名为2015年的马格努斯·林德伯格的第二小提琴协奏曲,与伦敦爱乐乐团的演出由梵志登指挥,与柏林爱乐和瑞典广播交响乐团的由丹尼尔·哈丁指挥,艾伦·吉尔伯特则指挥了纽约爱乐乐团和法国广播爱乐乐团的演出。此外,马蒂亚斯·派辛赫创作的《静悄悄》(“en sourdine”),由柏林爱乐乐团、齐默尔曼和彼得·埃托夫斯于2003年首演。布莱特·迪恩小提琴协奏曲《遗失的书信写作艺术》(“The Lost Art of Letter Writing”) 于2007年由齐默尔曼和阿姆斯特丹皇家音乐厅管弦乐团首演,作曲家本人担任指挥,并夺得2009年的格文美尔古典作曲大奖。2009他也与法国广播爱乐乐团和安德烈·博列伊科首演奥古斯塔·里德·托马斯的新作——小提琴第三协奏曲《天堂里的魔术师》(“Juggler in Paradise”)。

弗兰克·彼得·齐默尔曼1965年出生在德国杜伊斯堡,五岁开始学习小提琴,十岁时已与管弦乐团举办了他首场音乐会。他曾师从瓦列里·格拉多夫,萨什科·加夫里洛夫和赫尔曼·克雷伯斯(Herman Krebbers)学习小提琴。

齐默尔曼使用一把1711年的安东尼奥·斯特拉迪瓦里小提琴,名为“音姬夫人”(Lady Inchiquin),由北莱茵-威斯特法伦州杜塞尔多夫艺术收藏基金会倾情提供。

泽尔格·齐默尔曼,1991年出生于德国科隆的一个音乐家庭,在五岁时母亲教授他第一次小提琴课。他的音乐技艺提高的速度惊人,2000年他首次与乐团合作莫扎特小提琴协奏曲。

从那以后,他开始与各大知名乐团的合作演出,包括班贝格管弦乐团、巴塞罗那交响乐团、赫尔辛基爱乐乐团、英国爱乐乐团、西班牙国家管弦乐团、捷克爱乐乐团以及都灵RAI交响乐团。

这位年轻的艺术家于2005年在埃森举办首次公开音乐会。塞尔吉演奏的布鲁赫和门德尔松的小提琴协奏曲颇受好评,并在2006年被德国媒体称赞为“一个纯粹的奇迹”和“一位将被世界经常听见的小提琴家。”

2007年,他在巴特基辛根与梅克伦堡-前波美拉尼亚的艺术节上演奏,并再次与赫尔辛基爱乐乐团合作。2008年,塞尔吉·齐默尔曼与慕尼黑室内乐团在科隆爱乐大厅的演出取得了巨大的成功,门票售罄。这一年他还在著名钢琴大师安德拉斯·席夫的瑞士卡尔陶斯伊廷根艺术节上演出。音乐会后,席夫大师邀请塞尔吉参加由他执棒的英国爱乐乐团在伦敦与牛津两地的音乐会。英国卫报对他二场演出做出了极高的评价,“同时拥有优美又多变的音色和令人眼花缭乱的技艺,齐默尔曼前途远大。“2010年夏季,他在基辛根之夏音乐节上临时顶替小提琴家莱昂尼达斯·卡瓦克斯与赫伯特·布隆姆施泰德指挥的班贝格交响乐团演出门德尔松小提琴协奏曲。在过去的乐季里,他完成了自己的美国首秀,并与指挥家曼弗雷德·霍内克和匹兹堡交响乐团。他还与钢琴家恩里克·帕切在海德堡之春、石和洲音乐节以及阿姆斯特丹皇家音乐厅举行独奏音乐会。作为一名室内乐演奏家,2011年8月受邀在莫里茨堡音乐节演出。2012年5月,他在维也纳音乐厅举行音乐之都的首场演出。

2011/2012季,他与乔尔达诺·贝利坎皮的杜伊斯堡爱乐乐团,瓦尔特·威勒的特隆霍姆交响乐团、斯图加特爱乐乐团,吉里·考特指挥布拉格交响乐团以及劳伦斯·福斯特指挥的莱比锡中德广播交响乐团。在整个乐季中,他与慕尼黑交响乐团与其指挥金·大卫-马苏尔共同完成了四首不同的莫扎特小提琴协奏曲。大亮点是他在日本的三得利音乐厅与NHK交响乐团和涅米·雅尔维举行的日本首演,曲目包括贝多芬小提琴协奏曲。


余 隆  艺术总监 / 首席指挥

余隆是活跃于国际乐坛的最杰出的中国指挥家。现任中国爱乐乐团艺术总监和首席指挥、广州交响乐团音乐总监、上海交响乐团音乐总监和北京国际音乐节艺术总监、上海夏季音乐节艺术总监、香港管弦乐团首席客座指挥。

余隆是与世界顶尖级交响乐团合作最多的华人指挥家。他与世界各地众多知名交响乐团和歌剧院有着广泛合作,他指挥过的乐团有纽约爱乐乐团、芝加哥交响乐团、费城交响乐团、洛杉矶爱乐乐团、蒙特利尔交响乐团、华盛顿国家交响乐团、辛辛那提交响乐团、巴黎管弦乐团、班贝格交响乐团、汉堡国家歌剧院、柏林广播交响乐团、莱比锡广播交响乐团、慕尼黑爱乐乐团、NDR北德广播交响乐团、悉尼交响乐团、BBC交响乐团、多伦多交响乐团、香港管弦乐团、东京爱乐乐团和新加坡交响乐团等。

余隆1964年出生于上海的音乐世家,自幼随外祖父、著名作曲家丁善德教授学习音乐。后求学于上海音乐学院和德国柏林高等艺术大学。先后受教于中国音乐教育家黄晓同教授和德国歌剧指挥家鲁宾斯坦教授等名师。出色的音乐天赋、优越的教育背景及广博的社会资源为余隆的艺术生涯奠定了坚实基础,使得他能够迅速成长为一位成就卓著的指挥家和音乐活动家。

余隆的艺术生涯涵盖指挥和艺术管理领域。1992年自德国学成回国后,余隆担任中央歌剧院常任指挥。同年,他创办了首届北京新年音乐会,并连续三年担任指挥,开启国内演出新年音乐会之先河。1993年起,余隆连续五年为香港市政局指挥歌剧演出。1998年,余隆发起并创办了北京国际音乐节,担任艺术总监。在他的出色领导下,北京国际音乐节不仅成为中国和亚洲规模最大的音乐节,也跻身于全球知名度最高的音乐节之列。在过去若干年间,金秋时节的北京国际音乐节上呈现了由众多著名乐团如柏林爱乐乐团和纽约爱乐乐团演出的精彩音乐会以及柏林德意志歌剧院、威尼斯凤凰歌剧院和圣彼得堡马林斯基剧院等带来的歌剧盛典,如《尼伯龙根的指环》、《玫瑰骑士》、《唐豪瑟》、《茶花女》、《纳布科》、《璐璐》和《姆钦斯克县的麦克白夫人》。

2000年,余隆参与创建了中国爱乐乐团,并担任艺术总监和首席指挥。余隆期望通过与众多世界知名音乐家的合作,使中国爱乐乐团发展成一个全能型职业化乐团,不仅向全世界介绍优秀的中国交响乐作品,也使得中国音乐家对西方音乐各时期及各种风格作品的演奏达到全新水准,并且在不同音乐形式上均有建树。余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团举行了许多大型作品的中国首演。2002年10月,作为第五届北京国际音乐节开幕式音乐会,余隆指挥包括中国爱乐乐团在内的近千名中外音乐家演出了马勒的第八《千人》交响曲,完成了这部宏伟巨作的历史性中国首演。从那时起,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团演奏了数百部古典音乐的文献作品,并被誉为中国诠释德奥作品的最权威的指挥家。

2001年9月,余隆率中国爱乐乐团在台湾地区举行了成功的巡回演出。2002年6月,余隆率中国爱乐乐团参加了波多黎各的卡萨尔斯音乐节,随后在圣何塞、洛杉矶等地进行了美国西海岸巡演。同年9月,余隆再次率中国爱乐乐团赴海外巡演,在日本东京、神户、大阪和韩国汉城演出,所到之处均深受欢迎,尤其是在东京三得利音乐厅的音乐会,赢得了包括日本皇室成员在内的两千余名日本听众的热烈喝采,取得了轰动性成功。2003年,余隆的一系列重要指挥活动包括与东京爱乐乐团合作并率该团在中国巡演。同年5月起,他在作为北京国际音乐节艺术总监与中国爱乐乐团艺术总监和首席指挥的同时兼任广州交响乐团音乐总监。9月,余隆率领中国爱乐乐团赴欧洲巡演,在著名的巴黎国家歌剧院、华沙国家大剧院和维也纳音乐之友协会金色大厅演出,获得巨大成功。11月至12月间,余隆与大提琴家米沙·麦斯基和广州交响乐团一道进行大规模巡演,在巴黎香榭丽舍剧院、卢森堡音乐学院音乐厅、荷兰阿姆斯特丹音乐厅、开罗歌剧院和亚历山大音乐厅演出。2005年2月至4月,余隆率领中国爱乐乐团进行了规模空前的环球世界巡演,历时四十多天,跨越北美和欧洲,不仅在中国乐团出访史上前所未有,在全亚洲交响乐团中亦属罕见。2008年5月7日,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团和上海歌剧院合唱团在梵蒂冈城保罗六世礼堂为教宗本笃十六世及八千余名听众演出了莫扎特的《安魂曲》,成为令全世界瞩目的重要文化盛事。英国《卫报》称此次意义非凡的演出为“中梵借音乐外交‘破冰’”。2009年11月,余隆率领上海交响乐团在纽约、洛杉矶、多伦多、圣地亚哥等北美12座城市进行了极为成功的巡演,《纽约时报》在2009年11月9日刊载专文介绍余隆的艺术成就,将余隆誉为“中国的赫伯特·冯·卡拉扬”。2010年3月,余隆率上海交响乐团赴波兰参加第十四届贝多芬音乐节,并在华沙和罗兹两座城市演出,受到各界高度评价。2011年,余隆再次率中国爱乐乐团巡访美国西海岸十数个城市。2012年中国春节期间,余隆指挥纽约爱乐乐团在纽约林肯中心的菲舍尔音乐厅举行了首次中国新年音乐会,使得他的指挥艺术再一次在美国享受盛誉。

2014年7月,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团在英国逍遥音乐节演出,演出受到了英国各界的极大好评,获得了轰动性的效应。

2016年11-12月,余隆指挥了中国爱乐乐团美洲巡演中全部9场音乐会,其中包括了广受媒体赞誉的旧金山音乐会与洛杉矶音乐会,乐团在纽约大卫·盖芬音乐厅全场售罄的首演,以及在古巴的两场历史性音乐会。

2017年8月,余隆与上海交响乐团赴欧洲巡演,先后亮相瑞士琉森音乐节,奥地利蒂罗尔节日剧院夏日音乐节、格拉芬内格音乐节以及德国汉堡易北爱乐音乐厅。四地均为中国乐团首次受邀出访。

余隆作为指挥家以及交响乐团和音乐节的领导者多年来始终大力倡导当代音乐,他领导下的北京国际音乐节、中国爱乐乐团和广州交响乐团等机构和团体向当今最重要的作曲家委约创作,包括克里斯托夫·潘德列茨基、约翰·威廉姆斯、菲利普·格拉斯、霍华德·肖、郭文景、谭盾、叶小纲、赵季平、赵麟和陈银淑等,并由马友友、朗朗、朱利安·劳埃德-韦伯等当今最优秀的演奏家与中国爱乐乐团担任首演。在2011年,由余隆担任艺术总监的北京国际音乐节与波士顿歌剧院向作曲家周龙共同委约的歌剧《白蛇传》获得了普利策奖。

余隆指挥的录音包括德意志唱片公司录制发行、中国爱乐乐团演奏的勃拉姆斯G小调钢琴四重奏(阿诺德·勋伯格配器)和瓦格纳的《唐豪瑟》序曲、中国管弦乐作品集以及由郎朗担任钢琴独奏的钢琴协奏曲《黄河》。拿索斯公司发行有余隆指挥科恩格尔德的小提琴协奏曲和丁善德的《长征交响曲》。2012年,余隆主持的中国爱乐乐团100张CD和10张LP唱片的发行更开创了中国乐团录制鸿篇巨制的先河。2014年夏,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团拍摄了交响乐艺术电影小提琴协奏曲《梁山伯与祝英台》,成为我国第一部该类型的艺术电影。2015年夏,余隆指挥中国爱乐乐团拍摄了交响乐艺术电影《黄河》。

作为一位优秀的音乐家和知名人士,余隆亦把培养年轻音乐家和社会教育工作作为己任,每年他都会发掘和培养一批年轻音乐家与他领导的乐团合作,使年轻音乐家能够在最受瞩目的音乐平台上崭露头角。2007年余隆创办了广东国际音乐夏令营,2012年上海交响乐团与纽约爱乐乐团联合创办的乐队学院令众多的年轻音乐家心向往之。

由于把全能艺术家作为追求目标,余隆除却在中国爱乐乐团和北京国际音乐节出品的许多歌剧中担任指挥之外还亲自担任导演,尤其是2004年他导演并执棒中国爱乐乐团演出的歌剧《卡门》,以及2010年雷哈尔的轻歌剧《风流寡妇》均引起了空前的轰动。

鉴于余隆在推动当今世界古典音乐事业发展和促进国际间文化交流方面所做的突出贡献,2002年,德国万宝龙文化基金会向余隆颁发了年度“万宝龙卓越艺术成就奖”;2003年,法国政府特别授予余隆“法兰西文学艺术骑士勋章”;2005年,意大利政府向余隆颁发了“共和国骑士勋章”。2010年11月,中央音乐学院在其庆祝建院70周年大会上授予他中央音乐学院荣誉院士称号,以表彰他近十年来对中国音乐的发展和对外文化交流作出的杰出贡献。这是国内艺术大学首次颁发“荣誉院士”称号,余隆成为我国艺术家中获此殊荣的第一人。当年12月15日又被授予“2010年年度中国文化人物”大奖。

2013年,余隆获颁国家级学术机构主办的最高艺术大奖“中华艺文奖”。

2014年,法国政府授予余隆“法国荣誉军团骑士勋章”。

2015年,余隆获颁“全国中青年德艺双馨文艺工作者”称号,同年荣获由美国大西洋理事会颁发的“全球公民”奖,以及由耶鲁大学音乐学院颁发的“桑福德奖章”。

2016年4月,余隆当选美国艺术与科学学院外籍荣誉院士。

2016年6月,余隆获得由德国联邦政府颁发的德国联邦十字勋章。

余隆现任第十一、十二届全国政协委员,并担任中国音乐家协会副主席职务。

Frank Peter Zimmermann is widely regarded as one of the foremost violinists of his generation.  Praised for his selfless musicality, his brilliance and keen intelligence he has been performing with all major orchestras in the world for well over three decades, collaborating on these occasions with the world's most renowned conductors. His many concert engagements take him to all important concert venues and international music festivals in Europe, the United States, Japan, South America and Australia.

One of his last engagements during the 2015/16 season were concerts with the Bayerisches Staatsorchester and Kirill Petrenko, with whom he started his 2016/17 season with further concerts in Dortmund, Bonn and Berlin (Musikfest). Other highlights during 2016/17 include engagements with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Jakub Hrůša, the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, the Göteborg Symphony Orchestra and Eivind Aadland, the Philharmonia Orchestra and Juraj Valcuha and Rafael Payare, the Berliner Philharmoniker and Alan Gilbert, the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra and Hannu Lintu, the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and Alan Gilbert (4 concerts in Europe), the Orchestre National de France and Juraj Valcuha, the Berliner Barock-Solisten, the Bamberger Symphoniker and Manfred Honeck and the Wiener Symphoniker and Jakub Hrůša. With his string trio, the Trio Zimmermann, he undertook a European tour in December 2016 with concerts in among others Zürich, Luxembourg, Warsaw, Amsterdam and Milan.

In December 2015 Frank Peter Zimmermann gave the world premiere of Magnus Lindberg’s violin concerto no. 2 with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Jaap van Zweden. Further performances of this new concerto took place with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, both under Daniel Harding and with the New York Philharmonic and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, both under Alan Gilbert. Further highlights in 2015/16 included engagements with orchestras such as the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and Jakub Hrůša, the Cleveland Orchestra and Franz Welser-Möst and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Jaap van Zweden. He joined the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and David Afkham for their Easter tour in March/April 2016. With his Trio Zimmermann he appeared at the festivals of Salzburg and Edinburgh, as well as in Vienna, Munich, Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona and Hamburg. 

Mr. Zimmermann is an equally respected chamber musician and recitalist. His interpretations of the classical, romantic and 20th Century repertoire are received with great critical acclaim from press and public alike.

Together with viola player Antoine Tamestit and cellist Christian Poltéra he forms the Trio Zimmermann; the string trio performs in all major music centres and festivals in Europe. BIS Records released three award-winning CD recordings of works for string trio by Beethoven (Op. 3, Op. 8 and Op. 9), Mozart (Divertimento KV 563) and Schubert (Trio, D 471).

In addition to the afore-mentioned violin concerto of Magnus Lindberg, Mr. Zimmermann has given three further world premieres: the violin concerto “en sourdine” by Matthias Pintscher with the Berliner Philharmoniker and Peter Eötvös (2003), the violin concerto “The Lost Art of Letter Writing” by Brett Dean, who received the 2009 Grawemeyer Award for this composition, with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, conducted by the composer (2007) and the violin concerto no. 3 “Juggler in Paradise” by Augusta Read Thomas with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Andrey Boreyko (2009).

He received a number of special prizes and honours, among which the “Premio del Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Siena” (1990), the “Rheinischer Kulturpreis” (1994), the “Musikpreis” of the city of Duisburg (2002), the “Bundesverdienstkreuz 1. Klasse der Bundesrepublik Deutschland” (2008) and the “Paul-Hindemith-Preis der Stadt Hanau” (2010).

Over the years Frank Peter Zimmermann has built up an impressive discography for EMI Classics, Sony Classical, BIS, Ondine, Teldec Classics and ECM Records. He has recorded virtually all major concerto repertoire, ranging from Bach to Ligeti, as well as recital repertoire. Many of these recordings have received prestigious awards and prizes worldwide.

His most recent CD with the two violin concertos of Shostakovich, performed with the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchester and Alan Gilbert was released on BIS in 2016. In 2015 and 2016 hänssler Classic released 2 CDs with his new recording of the 5 violin concertos and Sinfonia Concertante of Mozart with the Kammerorchester des Symphonieorchesters des Bayerischen Rundfunks and Antoine Tamestit. In 2014 his second recording of the Dvořák violin concerto was released by Decca as part of the complete symphonies and concertos with the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Jiří Bělohlávek. And in 2013 BIS released his highly praised recording of the Hindemith violin concerto (1939), which he performs with the hr-Sinfonieorchester under Paavo Järvi, and of four sonatas by the same composer (three of which together with pianist Enrico Pace), as well as a recording of the violin concerto "The Lost Art of Letter Writing" by Brett Dean, with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra conducted by Jonathan Nott.

Born in 1965 in Duisburg, Germany, Mr. Zimmermann started playing the violin when he was 5 years old, giving his first concert with orchestra at the age of 10. He studied with Valery Gradov, Saschko Gawriloff and Herman Krebbers. 

Mr. Zimmermann plays on the 1711 Antonio Stradivari violin "Lady Inchiquin”, which is kindly provided by the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen, Düsseldorf, "Kunst im Landesbesitz".


Serge Zimmermann, violin

Serge Zimmermann, born 1991 in Cologne/Germany into a family of musicians, received his first violin lessons by his mother at the age of five. His musicianship developed rapidly and already a few years later, in 2000, he made his orchestral debut with a violin concerto by Mozart.

Since then, he has performed with a number of renowned orchestras such as Bamberg Symphony, Orquesta Sinfonica de Barcelona, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Orquesta Nacional de España, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra and Orchestra della RAI Torino.

The young artist gave his first public recital in 2005 in Essen. After much-acclaimed performances of the violin concertos of Bruch and Mendelssohn in 2006 the German press hailed him as "…a sheer miracle…" and "a violinist of whom the world is going to hear a lot...".

In 2007 he appeared at the festivals of Bad Kissingen and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and returned to the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2008 Serge Zimmermann had a tremendous success at the sold-out Philharmonie in Cologne together with the Munich Chamber Orchestra and he also performed at Andras Schiff´s festival at the Kartause Ittingen in Switzerland. As a result of this concert, Andras Schiff invited him spontaneously to play under his baton with the Philharmonia Orchestra in Oxford and London. The Guardian wrote about the latter performance: "Armed with a beautiful, varied tone and blistering technique, Zimmermann will go far". At the festival Kissinger Sommer 2010 he replaced Leonidas Kavakos at short notice, performeing Mendelssohn´s violin concerto op. 64 with the Bamberg Symphony under the baton of Herbert Blomstedt. In the past season he made his US debut with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and its Music Director Manfred Honeck. Together with pianist Enrico Pace he performed recitals at Heidelberger Frühling, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. As a chamber musician he was invited for concerts within the prestigious Moritzburg Festival in August 2011. His first recital in Vienna will take place in May 2012 at the Vienna Konzerthaus.

Orchestral performances in the 2011/2012 season include concerts with the Duisburger Philharmoniker and Giordano Bellincampi, Trondheim Symfoniorkester and Walter Weller, Prague Symphony and Jiří Kout, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker, again with Walter Weller and the MDR-Sinfonieorchester Leipzig with Lawrence Foster. In the course of the season he will play four different Mozart violin concertos together with the Munich Symphony and conductor Ken-David Masur. A special highlight of the current season will be his Japan debut in Tokyo´s Suntory Hall with the NHK Symphony Orchestra and Neeme Järvi, playing the Beethoven violin concerto.


Long Yu, conductor

As one of the most distinguished Chinese conductors with an established international reputation, Maestro Long Yu is currently Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Music Director of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Artistic Director of the Beijing Music Festival and Music in the Summer Air, MISA, as well as Principle Guest Conductor of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

Long Yu is one of the conductors who conducts the world top-class orchestras most frequently, he has appeared with a prestigious list of leading orchestras and a lot of opera companies around the world, including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, Montreal Symphony OrchestraWashington National Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre de Paris, Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, Hamburg State Opera, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Rundfunk Sinfonie Orchester Leipzig, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Sydney Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic and Singapore Symphony Orchestra.

Long Yu was born in 1964 into a family of musicians in Shanghai. Musical education in his early childhood came from his grandfather Ding Shande, a composer of great renown, and he later studied at the Shanghai Conservatory with Professor Xiaotong Huang and then studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin with Prof. Robinstein. Outstanding music talents, excellent educational background and extensive social resources make Long Yu a preeminent conductor. 

Long Yu's career has included both artistic and administrative appointments. In 1992, he was appointed Principal Conductor of the Central Opera Theatre in Beijing, and in the same year, he was involved in the planning of the first Beijing New Year's Concert and served as its conductor for three consecutive years. He also produced operas for The Urban Council of Hong Kong for five successive years. In 1998, he led the creation of the Beijing Music Festival and was its Founding Artistic Director. Under his leadership the Beijing Music Festival is regarded as the largest classical music festival in the eastern hemisphere and one of the world’s most important music festivals. During the past 18 years at this annual autumn festival there have been many splendid concerts given by leading orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the New York Philharmonic, as well as outstanding productions of the Ring, Der Rosenkavalier, Tannhäuser, La Traviata, Nabucco, Lulu and Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by visiting opera companies including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Teatro la Fenice and the Mariinsky Theatre.

In 2000, Long Yu co-founded the China Philharmonic Orchestra and was appointed Artistic Director and Chief Conductor. Now entering his 9th season with the China Philharmonic, he has maintained the high standard of orchestral performance and artistic administration and built the ensemble’s reputation as not only a leading Chinese orchestra but also a world-famous one. In 2003, Long Yu was appointed the Music Director of the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and he has been raising the level and fame of the orchestra rapidly. He toured extensively with the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra as well as the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. In September 2003, under his leadership, the China Philharmonic Orchestra toured Europe, with memorable concerts at the Palais Garnier, Paris, the Teatr Wielki - National Opera Warsaw and the Grosser Saal of the Musikverein, Vienna. In December of the same year he undertook a major European and Egyptian tour with the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and Mischa Maisky, giving concerts at Theatre des Champs-Élysées, Paris, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Luxemburg, Cairo Opera House and Alexander Opera House. From February to April 2005, he led the China Philharmonic Orchestra on an international tour. Within 40 days they appeared in 22 cities throughout North America and Europe. In 2008, for the first time in history, the China Philharmonic Orchestra performed under the baton of maestro Long Yu at the Vatican in the Paul VI Auditorium. The concert was attended by The Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI and marked a giant step in bringing eastern and western cultures closer together. In April 2009 the China Philharmonic Orchestra was selected by the Gramophone, which is widely regarded as the best classical music magazine in the world, as one of "the world's 10 most inspiring orchestras". In November 2009 Long Yu led the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra on a twelve-city North American tour which is a huge success. The tour began with the closing concert of the Ancient Paths, Modern Voices Festival at Carnegie Hall and included concerts in Los Angeles, Toronto and San Diego. A New York Times report from November 9, 2009 introduced Long Yu's artistic achievement and hailed him as "China's Herbert von Karajan." In March 2010 Long Yu conducted the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra at the 14th Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Krakow and gave concerts in Warsaw and Lodz. All the performances won high praise from both audiences and critics. In 2011, Long Yu toured extensively with the China Philharmonic Orchestra in 8 cities in west coast of United States. In Chinese spring festival of 2012, Long Yu led the New York Philharmonic in the First Chinese New Year Concert at Avery Fisher Hall of Lincoln Center. 

In July 2014, Long Yu conducted the China Philharmonic Orchestra  in the BBC Proms as the first orchestra from China to play in a world class music festival and the concert was highly praised by media and audience.

In November – December 2016, Long Yu conducted all 9 performances of the China Philharmonic Orchestra’s Tour of the Americans including overwhelmingly received debut at the Walt Disney Hall in Los Angeles and a return to Davies Hall in San Francisco, the orchestra’s sold-out debut at David Geffen Hall, New York, and two historical performances in Republic of Cuba.

In August 2017, Long Yu conducted Shanghai Symphony Orchestra’s Tour of Europe for consecutive performances at the Lucerne Festival in Switzerland, Tiroler Festspiele and Grafenegg Festival in Austria as well as Hamburg Elbephilharmonie in Germany, making debut performances as a Chinese orchestra in all four locations.

Maestro Long Yu's reputation has been enhanced by his activities as a widely admired and respected figure in administration of orchestras and festival as well as in international exchanging of musical culture. As a champion of contemporary music Long Yu has been commissioning a number of works from today’s prominent composers such as Krzysztof Penderecki, Philip Glass, Guo Wenjing, Tan Dun, Ye Xiaogang and Unsuk Chin.

Mr. Long Yu's recordings include, on Deutsche Grammophon with the China Philharmonic, Brahms's Piano Quartet in G Minor (orch. Arnold Schoenberg) and Wagner's Tannhäuser Overture, highlights of Chinese symphonic music and Yellow River Concerto with Lang Lang as featured soloist. Recordings on Naxos include Korngold's Violin Concerto and Ding Shande's Long March Symphony. In 2012 Long Yu lead the release of CPO Live a 100-CD box set of the live performances in the past music seasons of China Philharmonic Orchestra, as a milestone of both the development of Chinese symphony orchestras and the recording industry in China. In the summer of 2014 Long Yu conducted the CPO in a symphony film of the Chinese violin concerto The Butterfly Lovers as the first art film of classical music in China. In 2015 Long Yu conducted the CPO in another film The Yellow River.

Long Yu received the 2002 Montblanc Arts Patronage Award from the Montblanc Cultural Foundation, and in 2003 came Le grade de chevalier dans l'ordre des Arts et des Lettres (The Honor of Chevalier of French Art and Culture) from the Government of France. In 2005, Italian President honored Maestro Long Yu L'onorificenza di commendatore.

In November 2010, the Central Conservatory of Music has presented Maestro Long Yu with a certificate of the Honourable Academician from the Central Conservatory at a conference for 70th year anniversary of its founding, in recognition of his great contribution and devoted efforts to the development in classical music in China and cultural exchanges over the past decade. On December 2010, he was awarded People of the Year in Arts Field in China.

In 2013, Long Yu was awarded the national level arts award “China Arts Award”.

In 2014, Long Yu received the France Knight of Legion of Honour.

In 2015, Long Yu was named “Morally and Artistically Excellent Artist” by state authority. He was also awarded “Global Citizen Award” by the Atlantic Council, and the Sanford Medal by Yale University’s College of Music in 2015.

In April, 2016, Long Yu was elected as a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

In June, 2016, Long Yu received German’s Federal Cross of Merit.

Long Yu is currently Vice-president of Chinese Musicians Association, member of the 11th and 12th the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
